Clutch went out on the highway today. I’m so fucking done with this thing. Or rather, I wish i were done with it. I’m probably not done with it. I no longer own it, now it owns me. I will likely be buried in it. Especially if the clutch keeps going out while I’m on the highway.
Bets on whether or not the master cylinder replaced last October is the culprit?

Guessing the throwout bearing or clutch itself would cost more, so hope for the master cylinder?

You might say that unreliability has been an all enCompassing problem.

That would be preferable, aside from money raining from heaven or a heretofore unknown rich uncle passing on and leaving me his fortune.

Ha! No, that was me. Our Patriot is in distress, so this is how she hangs.

Actually had a rich (great) uncle, but when he didn’t show at my Bar Mitzvah I knew I was out.

I have a rich uncle too, but two of his three kids have been bleeding him for all he’s worth for 25+ years now.

I’d trade it in, but I need to Wrangle up a decent down payment first.

Uh-huh. So did my buddy’s Renault Alliance. It’s OK, we all make mistakes sometimes. I’m certainly no exception.

Very true. I think my uncle puts up with it out of guilt for being at work for most of their childhood.

I will say this much: Buying the Patriot wasn’t a mistake. When I got it, it was the perfect cross of size and affordability.
My mistake was hanging onto it too long. But finances are my weak point.

Hence the reason he’s a rich uncle - didn’t inherit it, but that doesn’t mean his kids can’t drain it away.

Eh - still, he talked a good game. He’s in that very slim book “Great Jewish Athletes” ... (joke) - a boxer. Jack Portney - won most of his fights, and let me drive his Cadillac when I was 9 years old. As nice a guy as you could ever hope to meet. Married well, opened a sporting goods store in FL, and lived a good life.
